2025 Women in the Law Announced - Congratulations to Ann C. Emmerich

Ann C. Emmerich was named a 2025 Women in the Law Honoree by the Wisconsin Law Journal in April, 2025.

Ann was interviewed and quoted by the Wisconsin Law Journal as follows:

"When thinking about what type of career to pursue, Ann C. Emmerich, knew she wanted a job where she could help people.

That's what she gets to do daily in her job as a shareholder at Bell, Moore & Richter, S.C. in Madison. her practice is focused in the insurance defense arena, including successfully defending a range of civil cases in auto, truck and boating accidents, product liability, construction defect and premises liability.

Emmerich began her legal career as an assistant state's attorney in Cook County, Illinois. A large office - there were about 1,000 attorneys working there - she mainly worked on felony cases and 'the courtroom was my office. I got a lot of good trial experience and wanted to continue trying cases' when she moved to Madison.

Through the years, Emmerich said she's been lucky to have several mentors during her career.

'I have several from my criminal days and Ward Richter, a great lawyer and an even better person, from my current firm,' she said. 'I try to be a resource for other lawyers and share what I've learned about navigating the cases we handle.'

Emmerich has tried more than 50 jury trials, is a fellow in the American College of Trial Lawyers and is the past-president of the Wisconsin Chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates.
