Appellate Litigation

Litigation is an adversarial process. Every case that goes to trial will result in a winner and a loser. Jury verdicts are unpredictable and often result in appeals.

Our specialized attorneys represent defendants throughout all procedural stages, including the appellate process. We have successfully represented insurers and their insureds in a wide range of cases on appeal, including products liability, premises liability, motor vehicle accidents, professional liability, land use, municipal liability, and other matters. Members of our appellate team have argued before the Wisconsin Supreme Court, the Wisconsin Court of Appeals, and the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals.

We also represent parties involved in insurance coverage disputes on appeal. Often a trial court will decide the issue of whether coverage exists in a particular matter. That decision determines the rights and obligations of the parties in the underlying matter. Appeals in this area are not uncommon due to the importance of this threshold issue.
