Over the years we have had several attorneys recognized as Super
Lawyers and for 2020, we are honored to have six Super Lawyers and one Rising Star named in the Wisconsin Super Lawyers Magazine.
These attorneys were selected based on peer recognition and professional achievement within their primary area of practice. Only five percent of the lawyers in Wisconsin are recognized for this honor.

Ann Emmerich:
Ann has focused her practice in the insurance defense area, successfully defending a range of civil cases including civil rights, auto accidents and premise liability.
David E. Joanis
David has recognized expertise in all of those areas and has successfully represented many clients during his career in trials and appeals, arbitrations, and mediations.
Patricia Epstein Putney:
Patti's practice area is primarily in the defense of civil litigation matters. She frequently defends physicians, nurses and other health care professionals in medical malpractice cases, as well as licensing, disciplinary and credentialing matters. She has lectured frequently to physician groups. Patti also defends personal injury actions, including automobile accidents, premises liability, products liability and insurance coverage litigation.
David McFarlane:
David has successfully defended physicians, hospitals, other health care providers and their insurers in trials involving neurosurgery, obstetrics, general surgery, orthopedic surgery, radiology, pathology, internal medicine, psychiatry and psychology, among others. He has also successfully represented lawyers in the defense of legal malpractice cases and represents businesses and municipalities involved in a wide range of commercial and employment disputes.
John Moore:
John's practice is concentrated in civil litigation defense work, including products liability, premises liability, automobile accidents, civil rights, municipal liability and defense of professionals. In recent years he has served regularly as a mediator and/or arbitrator.
Ward Richter:
Ward's practice has been devoted entirely to civil litigation, including concentrations in general liability claims (auto, premises, construction and products liability), defense of lawyers and accountants in professional liability claims, insurance coverage and bad faith litigation as well as commercial litigation. Ward has also served as an expert witness in cases involving legal malpractice and bad faith allegations.
Sheila Sullivan:
Sheila practice areas are in civil litigation (both state and federal courts), with primary focus on insurance defense, civil rights defense, and appellate litigation.
BMR's Rising Stars:
David G. Ress:
David represents and advises clients in a variety of areas, including civil litigation defense and worker's compensation. He has argued cases across the state, including to the Wisconsin Supreme Court.
